KIM OKURA “Three Toasts and Some Potatoes” ONLINE EXHIBITION & HOMMAGE
“When you are very sad and it feels like there’s a huge, emty, dark hole in your body and someone is giving you delicious food instead of a hug, – and this happens once, and this happens twice, … food will play a particularly important role in your life.”
Kim Okura’s marmalade butter toast sculptures draw on her time in her childhood that she spent on a farm, where she watched her grandmother, who baked bread herself, made butter and processed the fruit harvest into countless jars of jam. Explore these works in this online presentation, ‘Three Toasts and Some Potatoes’
Boiling potatoes played a formative role well beyond Kim Okura’s childhood
All of this delicious artwork material was freshly produced (cooked & baked) by the artist.
The first 9 and a half artworks of Okura‘s „Three Toasts and Some Potatoes Online Exhibition” were published on August 11th, 2020 as part of the Hommage to Hauser & Wirth artist Martin Creed and his online exhibition: “Martin Creed Three Toasts and Some Broccoli Online Exhibition”.
IT‘S KATHARSIS AS WE CAN SEE IT (AND I FEEL FINE)
